TS have been named Huésped de Honor, or Guests of Honor, of Bogotá, ahead of their first group concerts in Colombia as part of the Latin American leg of their “ARIRANG” world tour. Bogotá granted the honor on September 30, making BTS the first recipients in a decade. koreajoongangdaily

The designation is awarded by Bogotá’s mayor to distinguished visitors who are considered to have contributed to the city’s development or residents through areas including arts, culture, public service, education and other fields.

The timing is especially significant because BTS are preparing to perform in Bogotá for two consecutive days, marking the group’s first concerts as a full team in Colombia.

The city’s response has extended beyond the honorary title. Bogotá plans to illuminate both city hall and the Colpatria Tower in BTS’ signature purple to celebrate the concerts.

The economic impact is also expected to be substantial. According to Bogotá’s Tourism Observatory, concertgoers are projected to spend more than 99 billion Colombian pesos, approximately $29.7 million, across accommodation, transportation, food, beverages and shopping.

International travel demand has also increased. Flight bookings to Bogotá between September 30 and October 4 were reported to be 46.6 percent higher than during the same period the previous year. Domestic bookings rose 59.3 percent, while international bookings increased 39.5 percent.

The figures highlight the scale of BTS’ touring power following their return as a full seven-member group.

The “ARIRANG” tour is also taking BTS through other major Latin American cities. After Bogotá, the group is scheduled to visit Lima, Santiago, Buenos Aires and São Paulo.

For BTS, the Bogotá honor arrives shortly after another major international milestone: their three wins at the 2026 MTV VMAs, including Song of the Year for “SWIM.”

BTS’ Bogotá concerts are scheduled for October 2 and 3, after which the “ARIRANG” tour continues through Latin America. With international fans travelling across borders for the shows, BTS’ Colombian visit is shaping up as both a major concert event and a significant tourism moment.
