ENA’s upcoming romance drama “Between Steps” has released a new teaser, giving viewers their first emotional glimpse at the relationship between Choo Young Woo and Kim So Hyun.
The drama is scheduled to premiere on October 5 at 10 p.m. KST and is directed by the late Ahn Pan Seok, whose credits include Something in the Rain, One Spring Night and The Midnight Romance in Hagwon.
Choo Young Woo plays Park Min Jae, a former swimmer whose life changes after he loses his right leg due to illness.
Kim So Hyun plays Im Yoo Jin, a graduate student who has also reached a difficult point in her life and is searching for a new direction.
Their relationship begins with an unexpected encounter. The teaser shows Yoo Jin approaching Min Jae, with her nervous voice asking him to tell her if he does not want what is happening between them.
The moment initially feels romantic.
Then the mood changes.
Min Jae struggles with his prosthetic leg, and the teaser reveals the emotional difficulty he carries beneath the surface. He eventually tells Yoo Jin that he is not the right person for her and suggests that their relationship should end.
Yoo Jin responds with a question that gives the teaser its emotional punch: does he really not have the courage to hold onto her?
That exchange suggests the drama will focus not simply on whether the two leads fall in love, but on the barriers that make accepting love difficult.
The involvement of Ahn Pan Seok is also important. The director has built a reputation for emotionally detailed romances that pay close attention to ordinary moments and complicated relationships rather than relying solely on dramatic plot twists.
Kim So Hyun has extensive experience in romance dramas, including Love Alarm, River Where the Moon Rises and Serendipity’s Embrace. Choo Young Woo has rapidly expanded his profile through dramas including The Tale of Lady Ok and Head Over Heels.
“Between Steps” therefore brings together two actors who have already demonstrated strong romantic-drama credentials.
The new teaser suggests this will be a more mature and emotionally challenging romance.
“Between Steps” premieres October 5 at 10 p.m. KST, with additional teasers and promotional material expected before the first episode.
