Ji Chang Wook And Imada Mio’s “Merry Berry Love” Teases A Sweet Cross-Cultural Romance

Ji Chang Wook and Japanese actress Imada Mio are giving fans an early look at their developing chemistry in the upcoming romantic comedy “Merry Berry Love.” Newly released stills show their characters moving from an awkward first encounter toward a warmer relationship ahead of the drama’s release.

Ji Chang Wook plays Lee Yu Bin, a successful Korean spatial designer whose life suddenly falls apart. After losing everything, he leaves Korea and travels to a Japanese island hoping to rebuild his life.

There, he meets Shirahama Karin, played by Imada Mio, a young Japanese strawberry farmer who has dedicated herself to cultivating strawberries.

The contrast between the two characters is immediately apparent. Yu Bin comes from a polished, urban professional environment, while Karin’s life revolves around farming and her local community. Their first meeting is reportedly shaped by an unexpected misunderstanding, setting the stage for the gradual relationship development shown in the newly released stills.

For Ji Chang Wook, the series continues his long-standing connection to romance dramas. His previous work includes Suspicious Partner, Lovestruck in the City, The Sound of Magic and Welcome to Samdal-ri, giving him plenty of experience balancing romance with comedy and emotional storytelling.

Imada Mio, meanwhile, is one of Japan’s increasingly recognizable young actresses, with credits across Japanese television and film. Her casting opposite Ji Chang Wook gives the project a genuinely international romantic pairing rather than simply setting a Korean drama in Japan.

The island setting also provides a different atmosphere from the busy Seoul environments common in many contemporary K-dramas. Strawberry farms, small communities and the contrast between city life and rural Japan appear likely to become important parts of the story.

The latest stills suggest that Yu Bin and Karin’s relationship will evolve gradually, beginning with suspicion and misunderstanding before moving toward laughter and affection. More promotional material is expected as the premiere approaches.
