Kim Woo Bin Transforms Into A Ruthless Baseball Coach In New Drama “GIFT”

Kim Woo Bin is stepping onto the baseball field for tvN’s upcoming sports drama “GIFT,” which has released new stills introducing him as an intense professional coach. The drama will premiere on December 5 at 9:10 p.m. KST. Soompi

Based on a popular webtoon, “GIFT” follows Jung Min Yong, a former professional baseball pitching coach whose life takes an unexpected turn after an accident gives him a special ability.

He eventually finds himself coaching a high school team that ranks at the bottom of the national standings.

The contrast between Jung Min Yong’s previous career and his new position becomes central to the story. As a professional coach, he had developed a disciplined way of evaluating players, carefully identifying their strengths and limitations.

His philosophy begins to change, however. While he once placed considerable faith in effort and the process of development, his new circumstances push him toward trusting the talent he can directly recognize.

The latest stills emphasize that personality. Kim Woo Bin appears stern and intimidating, often wearing sunglasses and carrying a whistle as he watches over his players. Yet the images also show him stepping onto the field alongside the young athletes, suggesting that his relationship with the team will extend beyond simply giving orders.

The drama gives Kim Woo Bin another opportunity to move into a character-driven role outside conventional romance. The actor has previously worked across romance, action, science fiction and comedy, including The Heirs, Uncontrollably Fond, Our Blues and the Alienoid film series.

Sports dramas have also become a recurring space for Korean television to explore mentorship and personal growth, and “GIFT” appears to combine those themes with its unusual supernatural element.

“GIFT” premieres December 5 at 9:10 p.m. KST on tvN. The newly released stills provide the clearest look yet at Kim Woo Bin’s coach character, while further teasers should reveal more about his special ability and the struggling team he takes over.
