Kim You Jung is trading her familiar romantic-comedy territory for espionage, danger and Korea’s independence movement in tvN’s upcoming drama “100 Days of Deception.” The series unveiled its first poster on August 28, offering fans the first official look at the highly anticipated historical romance.

The drama is directed by Yoo In Shik, the acclaimed director behind Extraordinary Attorney Woo and the Dr. Romantic series. That creative connection alone has made the project one of the more anticipated upcoming Korean dramas.

Set during the Japanese occupation of Korea, “100 Days of Deception” follows Lee Ga Kyeong, played by Kim You Jung. She is introduced as Gyeongseong’s top pickpocket, a woman whose survival skills eventually pull her into the independence movement.

Her life changes when she assumes a false identity and infiltrates the Japanese Government-General of Korea while posing as an interpreter trainee.

That undercover mission becomes considerably more complicated when she encounters Kim Tae Woong, played by GOT7’s Park Jinyoung. Tae Woong also operates under an assumed identity, going by the name Sato Hideo.

The two characters therefore enter the story carrying secrets of their own, creating an obvious foundation for both the espionage plot and the romance.

The drama’s title refers to the 100-day period at the heart of the story, suggesting that the series will unfold under a ticking-clock structure rather than treating its historical setting simply as background scenery.

For Kim You Jung, the project represents another interesting addition to an already varied acting career. She began as a child actress before becoming one of Korea’s most recognizable young leading actresses, appearing in projects such as Love in the Moonlight, Backstreet Rookie and My Demon.

Park Jinyoung, meanwhile, continues to balance music and acting. As a member of GOT7, he has maintained a parallel career on screen through dramas and films.

The first poster is only the opening move in the promotional campaign.

More character posters, teasers and details about the supporting cast are expected before the drama premieres.

With espionage, historical conflict and a romance built around two people hiding their identities, “100 Days of Deception” could be one of the more intriguing period dramas t
