NCT WISH are returning with a new mini album, and the group are bringing a growing commercial track record with them.
SM Entertainment announced on September 14 that NCT WISH will release their fourth mini album, “I SPY,” on October 12. The six-track project will be led by a title track carrying the same name. Physical album pre-orders have also opened.
The comeback arrives approximately six months after the group’s first full-length album, “Ode to Love,” which was released in April.
That album represented an important step for NCT WISH. According to SM Entertainment, it became the group’s third consecutive million-selling release and produced career highs in both physical album sales and digital performance.
Those numbers show how quickly NCT WISH have established themselves commercially.
The group debuted as the final subunit of NCT’s global expansion strategy, with a particularly strong focus on Japan and Korea. Their youthful image and bright pop sound have helped them distinguish themselves from some of NCT’s more experimental or performance-heavy units.
Ahead of “I SPY,” the group have already begun teasing a new narrative through a trailer titled “Confused Boy.”
The trailer introduces a digital world known as “WISH LAND,” where the members encounter a mysterious presence called “energy.” The imagery suggests that the new album may continue the group’s use of fantasy and digital-world concepts while introducing a new storyline.
NCT WISH have also been building their Japanese career alongside their Korean releases.
Their July Japanese single “YO-I-DON! / BOY MEETS GIRL” has surpassed 500,000 cumulative shipments and received a double-platinum certification from the Recording Industry Association of Japan. That milestone is particularly important because Japan has been one of the group’s core markets since debut.
The October comeback will therefore arrive at an interesting moment. NCT WISH are no longer simply being introduced to audiences. They are entering a stage where each release is expected to build on increasingly strong commercial results.
“I SPY” will provide the next test.
What fans can expect next: The six-track mini album arrives October 12, with further concept photos, trailers and promotional details expected before release.
