NCT’s Xiaojun Prepares for Solo Debut With Mini Album “Hey, Somebody

NCT and WayV vocalist Xiaojun has unveiled the introductory film for his first solo mini album, “Hey, Somebody,” beginning the final countdown to its release on October 26. The teaser arrived at midnight KST on October 19, giving fans their first official visual introduction to this new chapter of his career.

Xiaojun, whose full name is Xiao Dejun, has spent much of his career performing as a member of WayV, the Chinese-language unit within the wider NCT system. He is recognised for his vocal range and emotive delivery, qualities that make a solo album a natural opportunity to showcase a different side of his musical identity.

NCT’s structure allows members to work across different units, languages and musical styles. While Xiaojun has built his reputation through WayV’s group releases and collaborative NCT projects, a solo debut places his own artistic direction at the centre of the experience. Rather than sharing the spotlight across a group performance, the album gives him space to establish a distinct sound and visual concept.

The title “Hey, Somebody” is now confirmed, but the initial announcement provides limited information about the full track list or musical genre. The introductory film is the first step in the album campaign, with more details expected as the release date approaches. For fans, the visual teaser is an invitation to begin looking for clues about the mood and themes of the record.

Solo releases can also help performers reach listeners who may not regularly follow every NCT or WayV activity. Xiaojun’s debut therefore has the potential to connect his established fanbase with a wider audience interested in vocal-driven K-pop.

The timing gives the album a clear place in an already busy October release calendar. Several established artists and groups are preparing new music this month, meaning Xiaojun will enter a competitive period for streaming attention. A well-defined concept and strong title track will be important in making the debut stand out.

Xiaojun’s first mini album “Hey, Somebody” is scheduled for October 26. Fans should watch for additional concept images, track information and music-video teasers in the coming days.
