“Oh My Guard” Posters Reveal Jung Yong Hwa’s Chaotic New Romance With Hong Seung Hee

Jung Yong Hwa and Hong Seung Hee are heading into one of the more unusual romance setups of the upcoming K-drama season with “Oh My Guard.” The drama has unveiled its main posters ahead of its October 24 premiere on Lifetime.

The series follows Uhm Tae Bong, played by Jung Yong Hwa, a hugely successful Hallyu actor who specializes in romance dramas but has one bizarre professional rule: he refuses to film kissing scenes.

Despite his fame, confidence and polished appearance, Tae Bong is also hiding a secret that nobody around him knows.

Hong Seung Hee plays Oh Hae Ra, a mysterious woman whose life takes an extraordinary turn after an accident. She becomes convinced that she is actually Cha Hong Doo, the female lead in Tae Bong’s drama.

The premise immediately creates a strange collision between fiction and reality.

The posters deliberately visualize that idea. Tae Bong appears inside a television screen while Hae Ra stands outside it, hugging the screen as though she is interacting with her favourite drama character.

Her devotion is played for comedy, but the situation becomes more complicated when her imagined drama world begins spilling into Tae Bong’s real life.

Instead of simply dismissing Hae Ra, Tae Bong gradually becomes drawn into her unusual perspective. Their relationship develops through constant arguments and misunderstandings, setting up a romance that appears designed to be as chaotic as it is sweet.

Behind the camera, the drama has another interesting connection. Director Yoon Jong Ho, who co-directs with Lee Seung Hoon, previously worked on Lovely Runner and A Bona Fide Killer.

Jung Yong Hwa has also built considerable experience in romantic dramas, having starred in projects including Heartstrings, The Package and Brain Works, while maintaining his career as the leader of CNBLUE.

Hong Seung Hee is taking on a particularly demanding role because she must switch between two dramatically different personalities: the timid and easily frightened Oh Hae Ra and the fearless fictional character she believes herself to be.

That duality is likely to become one of the drama’s biggest attractions.

“Oh My Guard” premieres on October 24 at 10:50 p.m. KST on Lifetime, with additional teasers and character material expected before the broadcast.
