Park Ji Hyun has made history as the first Korean actress ever nominated for an International Emmy Award, while Disney+ drama Hyper Knife has also received a nomination at the 54th International Emmy Awards. The nominations were announced on September 25 by the International Academy of Television Arts and Sciences, putting two Korean productions in the spotlight ahead of the ceremony in New York on November 23.

Park Ji Hyun received a nomination for Best Performance by an Actress for her role in You and Everything Else. The achievement marks a significant milestone for Korean television, particularly because the International Emmys recognize programs and performances originally produced and broadcast outside the United States.

For Park, the nomination adds another international achievement to a career that has steadily expanded across both mainstream and prestige Korean productions. She has appeared in projects including Reborn Rich, Do You Like Brahms?, Yumi’s Cells 2 and The Forbidden Marriage, building a reputation for taking on characters with very different personalities.

Her nomination is also notable because You and Everything Else represents the kind of character-driven Korean drama that has increasingly found audiences outside Korea. Rather than relying solely on spectacle, the series places considerable emphasis on relationships and the complicated emotional history between its central characters.

Meanwhile, Hyper Knife earned a nomination for Best TV Movie/Mini-Series. The Disney+ medical thriller stars Park Eun Bin and Sol Kyung Gu and follows two neurosurgeons whose professional and personal histories become intertwined after a devastating fallout.

The International Emmy recognition arrives at a time when Korean television continues to expand beyond its traditional awards circuit. Korean dramas have already become regular contenders at major international festivals and awards ceremonies, but a milestone such as Park Ji Hyun’s nomination remains especially significant for Korean acting.

The winners will be announced at the 54th International Emmy Awards in New York on November 23, 2026. Until then, Korean drama fans have another international awards race to watch, with Park Ji Hyun competing in one of the ceremony’s major acting categories.
