The phenomenal success of SBS’s newest action drama, “Agent Kim Reactivated,” has sparked growing calls for a second season, but the broadcaster says it is still too early to make any promises. On July 6, SBS addressed speculation surrounding the future of the series, revealing that while there are currently no official discussions about Season 2, the possibility remains open due to the drama’s overwhelming popularity.

An SBS representative explained that no formal plans are underway at this time. However, the network acknowledged that Agent Kim Reactivated is the kind of series that naturally lends itself to a seasonal format, adding that viewers’ expectations for another installment continue to grow as the drama dominates ratings and online conversations.

Based on the popular webtoon “Manager Kim,” Agent Kim Reactivated stars So Ji Sub as Kim, an ordinary office worker and devoted single father who secretly spent years working as an elite undercover operative. After leaving his dangerous past behind to raise his daughter, his peaceful life is shattered when she suddenly disappears. Forced back into action, Kim reunites with trusted allies to launch a relentless mission to rescue her, blending emotional family drama with explosive action sequences.

Since premiering on June 26, the series has become one of the biggest television hits of 2026. It debuted with an impressive 9.5 percent nationwide rating before climbing steadily with every episode. By its fourth broadcast, the drama had reached an outstanding 21.6 percent nationwide viewership according to Nielsen Korea, making it the third highest-rated Friday-Saturday SBS drama in history, trailing only The Penthouse 2 and The Fiery Priest. The drama also became the fastest Korean series in five years to surpass the 15 percent ratings mark, a remarkable achievement in today’s streaming-dominated television landscape.

Interest in a sequel intensified after lead actor So Ji Sub openly expressed his own hopes for another season during SBS’s “SBS DRAMA: NEXT EPISODE” media event on July 1. His comments echoed the enthusiasm of viewers, many of whom have questioned why such a successful production is scheduled for only 10 episodes. Fans have taken to social media to praise the show’s fast-paced storytelling, emotional father-daughter relationship, and cinematic action, with many arguing that the webtoon source material offers more than enough content for future seasons.

Although SBS has not officially begun developing Season 2, the network’s response has given fans reason to remain hopeful. Rather than dismissing the idea outright, the broadcaster acknowledged the drama’s strong seasonal potential, suggesting that future discussions could depend on continued audience support and the series’ long-term performance.

For now, Agent Kim Reactivated continues airing every Friday and Saturday at 9:50 p.m. KST, with viewers eagerly following Kim’s dangerous mission while keeping one eye on whether SBS will eventually greenlight another chapter of the breakout action drama.
