It was a strong night for Korean television as two popular dramas reached major ratings milestones.

tvN’s supernatural romance “Spooky in Love” concluded its run on August 23 with its highest viewership rating of the entire series. According to Nielsen Korea, the finale recorded an average nationwide rating of 7.9 percent, making it the most-watched cable program of any kind that aired on Sunday.

Meanwhile, KBS 2TV’s “Love on the Menu” also hit a new high. Its latest episode achieved a nationwide average rating of 16.4 percent, becoming the most-watched program overall on Sunday.

For “Spooky in Love,” the finale provides a particularly satisfying conclusion to a ratings journey that had built steadily around its supernatural-romance premise. The series starred Park Eun Bin, Yang Se Jong and Ong Seong Wu, combining fantasy elements with romance and emotional character development.

Its final 7.9 percent rating is also notable because cable dramas typically compete under different viewing conditions from major terrestrial networks. Finishing as the top cable broadcast of the night gives the drama a strong closing statistic to add to its run.

“Love on the Menu,” meanwhile, continues to demonstrate the strength of its audience. The drama had already posted a Saturday ratings record before climbing even higher on Sunday. Its 16.4 percent figure represents a new personal best for the series.

The contrasting performances also show how varied Korea’s current drama landscape is. “Spooky in Love” built its appeal around fantasy and romance, while “Love on the Menu” has been attracting viewers through its romantic storyline and broad family-friendly appeal.

For international viewers following the Korean drama conversation, ratings are worth watching because they can influence how broadcasters assess a show’s performance and how strongly a series resonates with domestic audiences.

“Spooky in Love” has now closed its chapter with a ratings flourish, while “Love on the Menu” is still climbing.

The next question is whether the latter can maintain its momentum as the drama moves toward its own final episodes.

6. “Flex x Cop 2” Hits New Season High as “A Bona Fide Killer” Takes Saturday’s Top Spot

The weekend drama race is heating up, and SBS’s “Flex x Cop 2” has just posted its strongest rating of the season.

The drama recorded an average nationwide rating of 7.5 percent for its August 22 episode, according to Nielsen Korea. That marks a new personal high for Season 2 and confirms that the show continues to gain momentum as its latest episodes unfold.

However, “Flex x Cop 2” did not take first place in its time slot. That position went to MBC’s “A Bona Fide Killer,” which recorded an average nationwide rating of 8.8 percent as it entered the second half of its run.

The results make the weekend competition particularly interesting because several dramas are now posting strong numbers simultaneously.

“Flex x Cop 2” continues the story of wealthy third-generation heir Jin Yi Soo, played by Ahn Bo Hyun, who uses his unusual resources and privileged background to assist in police investigations. Season 2 has maintained the combination of action, comedy and detective storytelling that made the first season popular.

Its growing ratings suggest that viewers are continuing to respond to that formula.

At the same time, “A Bona Fide Killer” has positioned itself as serious competition. Opening the second half of its broadcast run with an 8.8 percent rating gives the drama a healthy position heading into its later episodes.

tvN’s “Spooky in Love” also remained part of the ratings conversation, although it fell to 5.5 percent immediately before its finale. KBS 2TV’s “Love on the Menu” performed particularly well, reaching 14.9 percent on Saturday and becoming the most-watched show of the night.

For drama fans, this is the kind of weekend where the ratings table tells a story of its own. Several titles are competing for attention, but “Flex x Cop 2” clearly has momentum on its side.

With the season continuing, viewers can expect the drama’s cases, character relationships and ratings battle to remain closely watched.
