Actor Sung Hoon has opened up about his decision to star in the upcoming romance “What a Boss Wants,” describing the script and his existing connection with the production team as key reasons for accepting the role. The series adapts a web novel and pairs him with actress Oh Se Young.

Sung Hoon plays Kwon Do Hyuk, the CEO of OYES Entertainment. He is a perfectionist with strong personal preferences and an unusually rigid relationship with music. He insists on listening exclusively to classical music and approaches the world according to his own rules, believing that careful control keeps his life in order.

That sense of control begins to unravel when he encounters Lee Eun Chae, played by Oh Se Young. Eun Chae is the lead vocalist of an indie band, and her unpredictable personality becomes the one variable Do Hyuk cannot neatly fit into his otherwise organised life.

The central contrast gives the romance its starting point. Do Hyuk has money, influence and a clear idea of how the world should work, while Eun Chae’s life in music introduces spontaneity and a different way of looking at things. Their connection challenges his assumptions and creates the possibility of change.

Speaking about the project, Sung Hoon explained that he already had a connection with the production team from an earlier production. He was also drawn to the script, saying that the combination made the decision straightforward. His comments suggest that familiarity with the people involved helped build confidence in the project, while the story itself gave him a character worth exploring.

Sung Hoon has worked across romantic comedies and melodramas, often playing confident men whose carefully managed lives are disrupted by relationships. “What a Boss Wants” offers a variation on that familiar setup by making the lead character an entertainment executive whose tastes and habits are unusually specific.

The music-industry setting also creates room for a contrast between corporate power and the less predictable world of independent performance. Eun Chae’s role as a vocalist may become more than a romantic detail, especially if her artistic outlook forces Do Hyuk to reconsider what he values.

The new interview provides an early sense of Sung Hoon’s approach to the character. More information about the premiere schedule and further promotional material will help fans see how the web novel’s romance translates to the screen.
